SYMCON at Intermodal Asia/2024 in Shanghai
Participating in Intermodal Asia in Shanghai was not just another exhibition for us at SYMCON; it was a groundbreaking moment in the history of Indian shipping container manufacturing. As one of the first companies in the recent decade to exhibit in China, we were stepping into a country renowned for producing almost 99% of the world’s shipping container requirements. This was a unique experience, standing alongside the world’s leading and giant companies who have been dominating the container production industry for several decades.
A Different Experience:
Exhibiting in China was an eye-opening experience. The sheer scale and sophistication of the Chinese manufacturing industry were on full display, and we were there to present a different perspective—one that highlighted the capabilities and potential of the Indian manufacturing sector. It was a moment of immense pride and honor for SYMCON, to represent the ‘Made in India’ brand in China and extend an invitation to the world to ‘Make in India’.
Surprising the Chinese Manufacturing Community:
One of the most memorable aspects of our participation was the reaction of the Chinese manufacturing community. There was genuine surprise and curiosity when they learned that India had ventured into the container manufacturing sector. It was a revelation that India had taken significant strides, albeit at a frugal level, in an industry long dominated by Chinese expertise. This curiosity quickly turned into respect and acknowledgment of our efforts.
Overwhelming Global Response:
The response from the rest of the world was nothing short of overwhelming. Visitors from various countries were eager to learn about India’s nascent yet promising shipping container manufacturing capabilities. The notion of having an alternative to China, even if still in its early stages, generated excitement and encouragement among international visitors. This positive feedback underscored the global community’s desire for diversification in the container manufacturing industry.
Warm Hospitality from the Chinese Community:
A special mention must be made of the warm welcome and hospitality extended by the Chinese community. Despite the competitive nature of the industry, we were treated with great respect and kindness. Their openness and willingness to engage in meaningful discussions about potential collaborations and the future of container manufacturing were truly commendable.
